China concerned over CA members’ meeting with Dalai Lama
China has shown serious concern over the recent meeting of Nepal’s CA members with Dalai Lama, Kantipur daily reported.
Six CA members representing four political parties had met with the Tibetan religious leader in Dharmashala on June 21.
Former Chinese ambassador to Nepal and a politburo member of the Communist Party of China Zhang Jiuhuan rushed to Nepal soon after learning about the meeting and inquired Prime Minster Madhav Kumar Nepal, foreign minister Sujata Koirala and foreign secretary Gyan Chandra Acharya about the ongoing anti-China activities in Nepal.
PM Nepal was taken by surprise on learning about the meeting, the daily reported quoting sources close to the PM. He called the concerned CA members and warned them to stay away from such activities.
Jiuhuan, who was in Kathmandu last week, requested Nepal to curb all anti-China activities prevailing in Nepal. PM Nepal assured Jiuhuan that Nepal was committed not to allow any anti-China activities in Nepal.
CA members led by Madhesi Janadhikar Forum leader BP Yadav and including Raj Kishor Yadav and Asha Kumari Sardar of MJF, Iswar Dayal Mishra of Terai Madhesh Loktantrik Paty, Biswendra paswan of Dalit Janajati party and Rukmini Chaudahary of Sanghiya Loktantrik Rastriya Manch had gone to Dharmashala. Their travel and the meeting was arranged by Lumbini Foudation.
Some CA members have said they were taken to Dharmashala without their knowledge. Chaudhary of Morcha and Sardar of MJF said they were told they were going to Delhi, but taken to Dharmashala without their knowledge.
Sardar said, Dalai Lama urged the Nepali CA members to support the free-Tibet movement.
