President Yadav calls for national unity and communal harmony
President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has renewed his call for a national unity to
protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
He said that the country might fall in jeopardy if it fails to maintain
national integrity and communal harmony.
Saying that the country is passing through a period of difficult political
transition, Dr Yadav said possible dangers can be averted if this period is
managed effectively.
He stressed on the need to finish off inequality and discrimination that
exists in the country and work towards establishing civil supremacy.
In a meeting with a delegation of youths who came to the capital from all
over the country to participate in a three-day National Youth Assembly at
the President's Office, Shital Niwas, Friday, Dr Yadav said that all
political parties, civil society and concerned stake-holders needs to be
serious towards ending the political turmoil that is seen during the current
transitional period.
He also called on all the political parties to remain vigilant towards
conspiracies to finish off the gains of the people's movement and steadily
work towards fulfilling the main responsibility of drafting the new
constitution and take the peace process to its conclusion.
Calling the youths 'the champions of change', he said the young people of
the country should also play a constructive role in giving a smooth outlet
to the problem cropping up during the transition period.
"Youths should also be able to face any kind of challenges that may come
while working for the development of the country," he said, adding that he
is serious towards solving the problems of today's youths and promised that
he would appeal to the government to resolve it.
Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachhadar had the inaugurated the
three-day programme Thursday.
Talking at the programme, Gachhadar had emphasized that the youths should be
involved in constructive work towards development.
Similarly, Minister for Youth and Sports Ganesh Nepali said that the
government is committed towards empowering youth.
More than 300 youths from different parts of the country are participating
