PM Nepal returns

Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has returned to Kathmandu Saturday after participating in the 15th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit at Sharm El-Sheikha on the Red Sea in Egypt.

PM Nepal had left for Egypt, where he participated in the NAM summit and met with heads of states and governments of various countries, on Tuesday. Nepal also addressed the summit.

Speaking to reporters upon his arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, PM Nepal said many countries had pledged their support to Nepal's peace process and development. He informed that during his meeting with UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon, future role of United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) was discussed while his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Dr Man Mohan Singh focused on strengthening bilateral relations, mutual support and peace process.

PM Nepal urged the main opposition Unified CPN (Maoist) to join the government which he said will help complete the peace process successfully and stressed need of assistance from all the political parties to take peace process, constitution drafting and army integration to a logical conclusion.

Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar welcomed the prime minister at the airport. CA chairman, ministers, constitutional bodies'' chiefs, chief secretary, secretaries, security chiefs, chiefs or representatives of foreign diplomatic missions in Nepal and high level government officials were present at the airport to receive the prime minister.

Earlier, on Friday Nepal stopped in Doha and met with Nepali Diaspora in Qatar where he said that he will leave office after the new election. Holding the next election at the earliest is his top priority. nepalnews.com
