Govt steps up surveillance to detect symptoms of Swine flu across country
The government has maintained high-alert across the country after laboratory tests confirmed the H1N1 virus in the blood samples of three persons of a US-based non-resident Nepali couple and their son who landed in Kathmandu recently.
As per the preliminary precautionary measures, the government has put over 40 Rapid Response Teams in high alert to identify people infected with the deadly swine flu in hospitals all over the country.
Similarly, a team of health professions at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu has also started rigorously checking in-coming passengers for symptoms of the deadly virus which has caused a global pandemic.
Government health officials said vigilance has also been stepped up for symptoms of the flu at border points.
According to reports, the government has also deployed surveillance teams across the country and strengthened hospitals mainly Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital and Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital to enable them to provide special treatment.
