A patient died inside an ambulance Wednesday as he could not reach the hospital in time due to blockade and strike called by Maoist and UML cadres in Dhankuta, reports say.

An ambulance heading towards BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, carrying a 59-year-old asthma patient from Sungnam-2, Tehrathum was stopped by Young Communist League (YCL) Cadres at Kagate, Dhankuta at about 8 am.

He died due to lack of treatment for almost six hours, at 2 pm. The distance between Dharan and Dhankuta is only about 50 km and the ambulance would have taken a little more than an hour to reach the hospital.

Cadres of Unified CPN (Maoist)'s sister organisation YCL had blocked the road to counter the indefinite bandh of Dhankuta bazaar called by CPN (UML)'s sister organisation Youth Force.

Dhankuta bazaar is reeling under bandh, blockade and curfews since Monday night due to the tension between the two youth wings of the two parties.

The local administration had imposed curfew orders from 5 pm Tuesday to 6 am Wednesday to avert clashes. The curfew relaxed for six hours from 6 am, Wednesday was re-imposed at 12 noon. It has been relaxed again after Wednesday evening.

Meanwhile, an all party meeting in Dhankuta held Wednesday evening has decided to seek solution by a consensus and the situation of Dhankuta is expected to improve from today. nepalnews.com

Wow, such a sad piece of news I am reading. Because of the stupidity and no
common sense on part of our government an innocent life of a citizen has been
lost. I say shame to those politicians who are running our country. Where is
our human right and civil right. Why did they have to stop the ambulance when
they know that the ambulance is carrying an acute asthmatic patient.

How many
more years do the people of Nepal have to suffer with such bureaucracy. When
will the politician come together and run the country into one unity.

Have a
great day.

This is just a preview of the maoists' terrorism. They will start bombing
hospitals, schools, colleges, government offices and even the private houses.
They will start keeling anybody they don't like. They will kill all nepalese who
say "no" to them.

Its a shame when someone dies of asthma because he cud not get adequate medical
attention. Its sad....first the bandhwalas sud have atleast let the ambulance
go, second, asthma can be treated easily(if its not very severe0 even in the
ambulance...we need to have proper medical team!!!!!
So what is the
solution????hmmmm lets have another bandh to protest the bandh that killed the
poor man!!!Its a vicious cycle....
Maoist  - hard hit list   |120.136.25.xxx |2009-11-05 05:25:07
Maoist hard hit list are poor people, patients and weak person. The strike make
trouble mainly those who need to work daily and fulfill their basic needs. So
poor people malnirished because of strike they can't earn and poor fooding and
loldging hard hit poor. Maoist are always doing favour of rich peron althoug
they said they are working for poor but it is always completely contradictory
since last 15 years.

Maoists claims that the things they are doing is for sake of general public. But
all we can see is that they don't have such spirit.

What can we expect from
them if they cant spare even a dying patient in an ambulance?

They need to be
responsible for their actions. Their behavior is childish. In my opinion, their
activities are worst than that of a tabloid-seeking Actor/Actress. Shame on
them.
