Tribhuvan University (TU) has summoned representatives of student unions who submitted a memorandum against the university's recent decision to hike tuition fees.

TU has called the student leaders for talks at 2 pm, Thursday, hours before the ultimatum given by the student unions to revoke the decision ends.

About a dozen student unions affiliated to various political parties had submitted a memorandum to TU Vice Chancellor Madhav Raj Sharma on Tuesday demanding the decision of fee hike be revoked within 72 hours.

TU academic council had decided on Sunday to hike tuition fees for Bachelors and Masters level by up to 10 times.

Student unions have warned of protests if the decision on fee hike is not revoked within the deadline.

Cadres of some student unions staged demonstrations in front of various colleges Wednesday in protest of the fee hike. nepalnews.com

Because the fee is very low anyone could go to higher education and they do
nothing and used by rotten politicians.
Schooling and technical education
should be acessible to all nepalese not this higher education.
Actually Rs.600
is not enough it should be at least Rs.5000-15000.
To become a doctor or
engineer costs around Rs.1500000.-2000000.In fact this fees should drop we need
more tech people than junkies.
