Gyanendra Shah
Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah is the last King of Nepal and the only monarch in the country’s history to have ascended the throne twice. His first reign began on 7 November 1950, when the Rana regime declared him king during the royal family’s exile in India. This brief tenure ended on 18 February 1951 with the return of his grandfather, King Tribhuvan. Gyanendra’s second reign spanned from 4 June 2001 to 28 May 2008, marking the final chapter of the monarchy in Nepal.
