BHADRAPUR: As many as 776 new cottage and small industries were registered in Jhapa district in the first nine months of the current fiscal year, according to Janaki Bhattarai, Information Officer at the Cottage and Small Industries Office.
Among them, 431 were from the industrial sector and 345 from the commercial sector. During the same period, 1,168 industrial businesses and 1,273 commercial businesses were renewed.
At the same time, 522 industries—394 industrial and 128 commercial—were closed. In addition, 23 businesses were relocated, and 130 expanded their operations.
Despite the shutdowns, Bhattarai noted that the number of new businesses being registered continues to rise, reflecting increased entrepreneurial momentum in the region.
The office collected Rs 22.18 million in revenue over the nine-month period.
