KATHMANDU: Domestic flights at Tribhuvan International Airport were completely disrupted this evening due to strong winds, while several international flights were forced to circle the skies before landing.
According to airport spokesperson Rinji Sherpa, eight domestic flights from various airlines were diverted.
He informed that flights from Chandragadhi, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, Surkhet, and other locations were diverted.
Shree Airlines’ flight from Biratnagar to Kathmandu returned to Biratnagar.
Two Yeti Airlines flights on the Biratnagar-Kathmandu route were also diverted.
Buddha Air’s flight from Bhadrapur to Kathmandu returned to Bhadrapur, and its Kathmandu-Surkhet flight returned to Kathmandu due to the winds.
Similarly, Shree Airlines’ flight from Kathmandu to Dhangadhi returned to Kathmandu.
Its Kathmandu-Bhairahawa flight also returned, along with two other Shree Airlines flights heading from Kathmandu to Surkhet and Bhairahawa.
Buddha Air’s Kathmandu-Nepalgunj flight also returned to Kathmandu.
Weather conditions worsened this evening in Kathmandu, with strong winds and rainfall disrupting flight operations.
