Remittance inflows cross Rs 1.35 trillion in first 10 months of current FY

KATHMANDU: In the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, Nepal received over NPR 1.35 trillion in remittance inflows. According to a report published by Nepal Rastra Bank on Tuesday, remittances grew by 13.2% in the fiscal year 2081/82 (2024/25), reaching NPR 1,356.61 billion.

During the same period last year, remittance inflow had increased by 16.9%. In Baisakh 2082 alone (April–May 2025), remittances totaled NPR 165.30 billion, up from NPR 115.99 billion in the same month last year.

In U.S. dollar terms, remittance inflow rose by 10.5%, reaching USD 8.96 billion, compared to a 14.8% rise the previous year. Net secondary income (net transfers) during the review period stood at NPR 1,479.08 billion, up from NPR 1,301.75 billion the previous year.

The number of Nepalis receiving final labor approvals for foreign employment (institutional and individual – new) stood at 405,610, while the number of workers renewing labor permits was 280,314. In the same period last year, the figures were 373,307 and 236,398, respectively.
