14 people injured in gas cylinder explosion in Kathmandu’s Kamalpokhari

KATHMANDU: A gas cylinder exploded in Kamalpokhari, Kathmandu, at 8:45 AM this morning, leaving 14 individuals injured.

Eleven of the victims have been hospitalized, while three others are reported to be in stable condition.

Senior Superintendent of Police Shekhar Khanal, spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Police, confirmed that the blast occurred at the Sandar Momo shop, where the injured were employed.

One of the injured, 24-year-old Sanjog Magar from Udayapur, is in critical condition.

Five of the injured have been transported to the Burn Hospital in Kirtipur.

The blast caused the ceiling of the building to collapse. Search operations are currently underway.

The Nepal Police’s Disaster Management Team and the Maligaun Police Team have been deployed to the site.
