KATHMANDU: Chief Administrative Officer of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Saroj Guragain, has said that his character has been unfairly assassinated in connection with the controversy surrounding the Kathmandu Tower at Old Bus Park.
Guragain claimed he only endorsed decisions that had already been made before his appointment and denied any wrongdoing.
“I have done nothing irregular,” he stated. “What’s happening to me is character assassination.”
Speaking to journalists on Sunday, Guragain said he felt compelled to break his silence following a series of false and misleading allegations against him in recent days.
He specifically denied any personal role in the building map approval process of the Kathmandu Tower, which has come under scrutiny.
“I merely approved prior decisions and clearly mentioned that in the official records during the map endorsement,” he added. “If any competent authority proves that I violated rules, laws, or procedures, I am ready to face action. But the way accusations are being made now is completely wrong.”
Guragain insisted that the ongoing smear campaign lacks any legal or factual basis and has caused undue harm to his professional integrity.
