Police on Monday arrested a man on the charge of raping a 38-year-old woman after taking her as a hostage in Baneshwor, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-10. Police also arrested the accused’s wife.
The arrested have been identified as Niraj Sharma (39) and his wife Nitu Sharma of Biratnagar Metropolitan City-17, Morang district.
The couple had allegedly taken the victim as a hostage at their rented room near Katyayani Chowk.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of police personnel deployed from Baneshwor-based Metropolitan Police Circle (MPC) arrested the couple from their rented room.
Further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
