KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) has temporarily stopped distributing Melamchi water in the Kathmandu Valley.

In a notice issued today, the utility cited flooding and high turbidity levels in the Melamchi River as the reason for the indefinite suspension.

KUKL has expressed regret for the inconvenience and stated that the shutdown is a preventive measure to safeguard the Melamchi Drinking Water Project from possible monsoon-related damage.

The project is routinely closed when rainfall begins and resumed once weather conditions stabilize.
