KATHMANDU: The Military Special Court has dismissed Brigadier General Roshan Khadka and Major Bodhraj Karki from service after finding them guilty of embezzling funds from the Nepal Army Welfare Fund.

They were dismissed under Section 101 of the Military Act, 2063, but will not be disqualified from future government service. The court also ordered both officers to repay the misused amount.

Khadka and Karki were found to have created fake names to illegally withdraw Rs 22.18 million in housing and insurance payments from the Nepal Army’s Welfare Directorate’s Housing and Insurance Branch. They were held in military police custody during the investigation and trial.

The court also convicted retired Corporal Atmaram Thapa and retired Captain Laxman Adhikari in the same case. Thapa is currently in pre-trial detention, while Adhikari is reportedly in the United States and has not faced trial.
