KATHMANDU – The Patan High Court has issued an interim order directing the government not to arrest journalist Dilbhusan Pathak.
The order follows a complaint filed by ‘Cyber Bureau 59’ accusing Pathak of cybercrime after he published a video on his YouTube channel Tough Talk Explainer.
The video alleged investment by former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, and current Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, in the Hilton Hotel through their son, Jaiveer Singh Deuba, and others.
The court stated that individuals who feel harmed by journalistic content have the option to file a complaint with the Press Council, not seek criminal action. On this basis, the court extended its earlier short-term interim order.
The bench of Justices Tanka Prasad Gurung and Tikaram Acharya ruled that the government must not proceed with Pathak’s arrest.
