KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba held a courtesy meeting with the European Union (EU) Ambassadors based in Kathmandu as well as non-resident Ambassadors and Heads of Missions from New Delhi on Monday.

The meeting, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focused on various aspects of Nepal-EU relations, mutual interests, and shared concerns.

During the meeting, Minister Dr. Rana expressed gratitude for the economic and social support extended by the EU and its member states to Nepal over the years.

She also thanked the European Union member nations for their participation in the recently concluded Sagarmatha Sambaad, organized by the Government of Nepal.

Dr. Rana highlighted that Nepal has been facing unprecedented impacts of climate change and has been actively demanding climate justice at the international level. She urged the EU member states to support Nepal’s ongoing campaign for climate justice.

In addition, she encouraged the EU member nations to promote investments in Nepal, particularly in tourism, agriculture, infrastructure development, and information technology, by motivating their private sectors to engage in these areas.

Minister Dr. Rana also requested the EU ambassadors to extend necessary support to Nepal after it graduates from the Least Developed Country (LDC) status in 2026.

The meeting was attended by 20 Heads of Missions and Ambassadors from the European Union and its member states, both from Kathmandu and New Delhi.
