KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a diplomatic briefing today for Ambassadors, Heads, and Representatives of Diplomatic Missions in Kathmandu, outlining preparations for the first edition of Sagarmatha Sambaad.

Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai welcomed the participants and provided updates on key aspects of the dialogue, including the programme schedule, logistical arrangements, and the draft outcome document.

The briefing concluded with an interactive session, engaging diplomats on various elements of the upcoming event focused on Climate Action, Mountains, Oceans, and alignment with the Paris Agreement.

Sagarmatha Sambad will be held on May 16-18. It is inspired by global platforms like the World Economic Forum of Davos, the Shangri-La Dialogue of Singapore, and the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi.

The inaugural Sagarmatha Sambaad aims to position Nepal as a global platform for climate dialogue, linking mountain and ocean ecosystems in the fight against climate change.
