KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba told lawmakers Friday that Nepal has intensified its diplomatic engagements under her leadership and expressed confidence that these efforts will yield meaningful outcomes in foreign relations.

Briefing the International Relations and Tourism Committee of the Federal Parliament, Minister Rana said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has ramped up diplomacy with Nepal’s friendly nations and the global community since she took office. “Diplomacy is a process—not something that delivers immediate results,” she said. “But we’ve been enhancing Nepal’s visibility and advancing our national agendas through active bilateral, multilateral, and international participation. I believe the results will be positive.”

Highlighting climate diplomacy, Rana said the recently held Sagarmatha Sambaad was instrumental in projecting Nepal’s climate concerns globally. She noted that the Sambaad’s roadmap will be used as Nepal’s reference position in international climate forums, including COP 30, and emphasized the participation and support from neighboring countries like India and China, calling it a significant diplomatic gain.

Rana also addressed concerns regarding undocumented Nepali migrants in countries not officially recognized as labor destinations. She said her ministry is working with the Home and Labor ministries to coordinate policy and support.

On consular services, Rana stated that Nepal has dispatched passport and consular service teams directly to countries with Nepali populations to provide essential services. To expand capacity, the ministry has also increased staffing by restructuring its organizational framework.

She concluded by noting that shifting geopolitical landscapes globally require Nepal to adapt its diplomatic strategies and cooperation modalities accordingly.
