World Bank VP Raiser pays courtesy call on PM Oli

KATHMANDU: World Bank’s Vice President for South Asia, Martin Raiser, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar today.

During the meeting, discussions were held on the ongoing cooperation in Nepal’s economic and social development, the significance of the ongoing Sagarmatha Sambaad in Kathmandu, and related matters.

Prime Minister Oli expressed his appreciation for the important support provided by the World Bank in Nepal’s economic growth, poverty alleviation, and improving the living standards of Nepali citizens.

He emphasized that effective management of revenue mobilization and development expenditures is a priority for the government.

The Prime Minister further informed that projects initiated to boost production and productivity would be managed effectively under the upcoming budget, ensuring their timely completion in line with established policies.

Vice President Raiser expressed the World Bank’s commitment to continued cooperation and extended best wishes for the successful organization of the Sagarmatha Sambaad, commending Nepal’s prioritization of environmental issues.

The World Bank has invested 2 million US dollars in 19 sectors, including transportation, energy, education, and health in Nepal.

The meeting was also attended by Prime Minister’s Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Economic Development Advisor Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada, and World Bank’s Country Director David Sislen, among others.
