KATHMANDU: The ‘Nepal Indigenous Nationalities Film Festival 2025’ is now open for applications for its Scotland edition. The Film Artists Association of Koshi Province, one of the organizers from Nepal, has issued a press release announcing the call for film submissions. The Nepali organizers of the festival also include the Nepal Film Directors’ Society.
The festival is to be organized in Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland, on July 19, 2025. The Nepal Indigenous Nationalities Film Festival 2025 in Scotland was formally announced during a formal program organized on February 10.
The festival is being organized by the Nepal Scotland Association (NSA), with Vijay Dangol serving as the festival coordinator.
Supporting organizations include the Federation of Indigenous Nationalities UK and the Film Culture Society of Nepal.
The festival is open to short films, documentaries, and language-based films that focus on indigenous nationalities and their stories. According to festival director Arun Pradhan, mainstream narrative films based on indigenous themes will also be eligible for awards and recognition.
Celebrated under the theme “Our Food, Our Attire, Our Culture, Our Films”, the festival will feature a variety of programs, including:
“We are excited about hosting this festival in Edinburgh for the first time. We believe it will significantly contribute to the indigenous film sector,” said Vijay Dangol, President of the Nepal Scotland Association and the festival coordinator.
The event is being organized to coincide with the world-renowned Edinburgh Festival.
