KATHMANDU: Durgesh Thapa has undergone a dramatic change. From being hated as an “average singer,” he is now one of Nepal’s most sought-after performers. With a full schedule of public performances, he has mesmerized audiences locally and globally with his energetic concerts. His recent hit song, Dushman Hereko Herai, is riding the music charts and is one of the top choices among his fans.

Despite his record-high popularity, Durgesh has come up with a stunning statement—he will be performing at no concerts during SEE time. In his formal release, he expressed his deepest gratitude to his fans by saying: “Wherever I stand and whatever number of stages I play on, my real strength is the love and trust of my audience. It is my devoted fans who have placed me in the spotlight again, who have stood by me thick and thin.”. Their encouragement, energy, and unwavering belief in me have propelled me to this height. That’s why, when an important moment arrives for them, it becomes my responsibility too.”

Durgesh explained that concerts during the SEE exam session are distracting to students who need to study, and this might affect them later on. When it comes to his study schedule, he has already decided not to perform at any event during this crucial time. Moreover, he has asked event organizers not to contact him for any events during the examination period. Encouraging the students to stay focused, Durgesh emphasized the importance of education and reminded them that the hard work they do now will shape their future. His move has been greatly appreciated since it is proof of his commitment not just to music but to the well-being of the youth generation as well.
