KATHMANDU: Good news for Nepali cinema! The long-awaited Bhootan is arriving in theaters in the United States and Canada, courtesy of the leading Hollywood distribution company, Buffalo 8.
Rajendra Thakuri, one of the U.S.-based producers of the film, confirmed to NepaliTelevision that an agreement has been signed for its distribution with Hollywood-based distribution company Buffalo 8, headed by Jacob Silver.
This is a significant achievement, considering that Buffalo 8 has handled high-profile films such as Women of the Hour (an Oscar-nominated film), Terrifier 3, Arcadian (featuring Nicolas Cage), and Wash Me in the River (starring Robert De Niro).
Internationally recognized as The World’s Happiest Man, Bhootan boasts a stellar ensemble cast featuring Nepali film icons Haribansha Acharya, Dayahang Rai, Anuradha Majumdar, Pooja Chand Lama, Richa Ghimire, Joyce Pandey, Aditi Pyakurel, Tom Crane, and Bimal Subedi.
Adding to the glamour quotient, legendary actor Bruce Dern also stars in the movie.
What makes this movie special? It is the first Nepali film produced under SAG-AFTRA, the prestigious Hollywood union, ensuring it meets all industry standards and is internationally acceptable. Several Hollywood technicians have also contributed to its production.
