The Janakpur International Film Festival will be held in Janakpur starting from February 28.

The Samvad Foundation, the organizing body, made the announcement at a press conference in Lalitpur on Tuesday.

The festival is scheduled to take place from Falgun 16 to 18 in Janakpur. According to the organizers, the event aims to internationalize the Nepali film industry, expand its market, explore new opportunities, and foster the development of film culture.

Dinesh DC, Chairman of the Film Development Board, who spoke at the press conference, highlighted that the festival will play a significant role in introducing Mithila’s culture to a global audience.

He also suggested that films from all linguistic communities in Nepal should be included in the festival, not just those from Mithila.

The Samvad Foundation organizers estimate that over 114 countries have submitted films for this year’s event, with applications also coming in for the Nepali Panorama category.
