Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin, was a box office hit last year, starring prominent actors like Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan.
The film grossed ₹1,042.25 crore worldwide. Now, Nag Ashwin is gearing up for his next project and is reportedly in talks with Alia Bhatt to join the film.
Alia Bhatt is currently shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War, where she is working alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. The shooting for Love and War is scheduled to be completed by October 2025.
According to a report by Pinkvilla, if all goes well, Alia will soon collaborate with the National Award-winning director Nag Ashwin. Alia has been on the lookout for a new script for her next film following Love and War.
The report states that Nag Ashwin is planning a new film before the next installment of Kalki 2898 AD, and he is hoping to collaborate with Alia.
Sources revealed that while the genre and plot of the film are being kept under wraps, initial discussions have taken place, and Alia is said to have liked the story. The talks between the two are reportedly in the final stages.
However, since Alia can only begin shooting for another film in November, the shooting schedule for Nag Ashwin’s film has been set to start then.
Nag Ashwin also plans to begin work on Kalki 2898 AD in the second half of 2026. The title of the film Alia is expected to work on with Nag Ashwin has not yet been disclosed.
Additionally, Alia Bhatt was previously in talks to sign a romantic film called Housewife with director Abhishek Pathak, and discussions are still ongoing.
On the work front, Alia has several projects lined up. In addition to Love and War, she will appear in an action role in YRF Spy Universe’s Alpha, and she will also be seen in Housewife and Maddock’s horror-comedy Chamunda.
