Kathmandu – The much-awaited Nepali film ‘Mahabhoj’ has officially hit cinema screens across Nepal starting Thursday.
Directed by Dinesh Raut, the film began its theatrical journey with approximately 200 shows nationwide. Featuring a stellar cast including Dayahang Rai, Aryan Sigdel, Khagendra Lamichhane, Anjana Baraili, Malika Mahat, and Gaumaya Gurung, ‘Mahabhoj’ is expected to make a strong impression among audiences.
Following a successful premiere in Kathmandu a few days earlier, the Mahabhoj team held special screenings in Pokhara and Butwal. Simultaneously, grand premiere events were also organized in Biratnagar and Dharan on Thursday. Audience turnout at these events was enthusiastic, indicating rising interest in the film.
At a time when independent film reviews and audience feedback hold increasing significance, ‘Mahabhoj’ has been garnering widespread positive responses. This positive word-of-mouth is anticipated to play a crucial role in the film’s commercial success.
Actors Aryan Sigdel, Khagendra Lamichhane, Anjana Baraili, Malika Mahat, along with director Dinesh Raut, attended the premiere events held outside the Kathmandu Valley. The film team expressed their excitement at the overwhelming response received from audiences during these shows.
In addition to the general public, the premiere screenings also saw the presence of social figures, journalists, and victims of cooperative fraud. Particularly, victims of cooperative scams voiced that the film resonates deeply with their experiences and urged others to watch it. They emphasized that ‘Mahabhoj’ portrays harsh realities and inspires people to raise their voices for justice.
Other viewers noted that the film not only provides entertainment but also delivers powerful social awareness, making it relevant to the lives of everyday Nepalis.
