KATHMANDU: The Hidden Treasure, the organization behind the Miss Nepal competition for three decades, is now launching a competition for fashion designers.
The event, titled Designer of the Year: Edition One, aims to foster creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship within the fashion industry. The finale of the inaugural edition is scheduled for the first week of April.
Pramod Kanshakar, director of The Hidden Treasure, shared that the competition is designed to encourage and promote the next generation of fashion talent.
“This program is an extension of our commitment to promoting creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship in the fashion industry,” he said.
The competition will be modeled after the Miss Nepal pageant, with plans for collaboration with the country’s leading media outlets.
Auditions will be held in Pokhara, Dharan, Nepalgunj, and Kathmandu, and The Hidden Treasure has invited interested individuals to apply.
In the finale, set to take place in Kathmandu, designers will present their creations in three categories: national costumes, evening gowns, and their own collections. A panel of judges will select the winner.
The winning designer’s creation will be worn by the winner of Miss Nepal at the international competition. Additionally, the winner will receive an opportunity to design for the 2025 Miss Nepal event, along with a cash prize.
It is also announced that top models will be showcased in the finale, with the best model earning direct entry into the next edition of Miss Nepal.
The Hidden Treasure believes that Designer of the Year Edition 1 will provide a transformative platform for aspiring fashion designers and contribute to the global recognition of the Nepali fashion industry.
