KATHMANDU: Veteran music composer Suresh Adhikari has taken up the role of executive producer for the upcoming film Mahaveer, which was officially announced on April 6, Chaitra 24. The ambitious project is set to go on floor on July 10, Asar 26, and the Nepali film industry is already buzzing with excitement.

Mahaveer will be a multilingual production, made in Nepali, Hindi, and English. Earlier reports confirmed that the film will be directed by GB Agri. During the announcement, executive producer Adhikari revealed plans to unite superstars from both the old and new generations, assembling a powerful multi-star cast.

While the full cast lineup hasn’t been formally announced, the production team has already secured a few key names. On Chaitra 4 (March 17), they received official production approval from the Film Development Board by registering two actors — legendary actress Niruta Singh and rising star Aashirwad Chhetri.

This movie is a big ticket comeback of Niruta Singh on the big screen after six years. She was last spotted in the 2019 hit Dal Bhat Tarkari. For Aashirwad Chhetri, who debuted in the 2023 film Nai Nabhannu La 6, Mahaveer is his next big ticket in the industry.

Adding to the buzz, sources assure that actress Anna Sharma has been cast in the lead female role alongside Aashirwad Chhetri. Anna has been seen earlier in Actor: Take One.

As of now, the cast and crew are busy with intensive acting workshops as preparations for the shoot are in full swing. With its high-calibre team and high ambitions, Mahaveer is turning out to be one of the most sought-after films of the year.
