KATHMANDU: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is facing backlash over a tweet he made regarding the ceasefire between India and Pakistan. Recently, Salman posted on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), expressing relief over the ceasefire agreement between the two nations. He tweeted, “Thank God for the ceasefire.”
Salman’s tweet came shortly after the official announcement of the ceasefire agreement. However, many people did not take it well. Numerous users harshly criticized him, and some were so outraged that they even called for a boycott of Salman Khan. As the tweet went viral, Salman deleted it shortly afterward.
Many users are now questioning why he deleted the tweet. However, as of now, he has not issued any clarification or statement on the matter. Meanwhile, one user commented, “Salman Khan deleted the tweet, but he didn’t say a single word about the Pahalgam attack. Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan are also silent.”
Salman Khan is not very active on X. His last post was on April 28, in which he shared a few of his photos. Before that, on April 23, he had posted a message condemning the Pahalgam terrorist attack. He wrote:
“Heaven on Earth—Kashmir—is turning into hell. Innocent people are being targeted. My condolences to their families. Killing even one innocent person is equivalent to killing the entire universe.”
It is important to note that India and Pakistan have officially announced a ceasefire and both countries have agreed to it. Following this announcement, several celebrities from both countries reacted on social media. Actress Parineeti Chopra posted “Om Namah Shivaya” along with the hashtag #Ceasefire. Kareena Kapoor shared an Instagram story with folded hands emojis and wrote, “Rab Rakha, Jai Hind.”
