KATHMANDU: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is reportedly preparing to make his Hollywood debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), according to Indian media. It is mentioned that he has been in continuous discussions with Marvel Studios regarding this collaboration.
The news gained attention after an account called Marvel Licks, which regularly updates on Marvel Studios news, shared a photo of Shah Rukh and wrote about the potential collaboration. The post teased that more news are to come shortly. The post, however, ensured that this had nothing to do with Marvel’s new film Avengers: Doomsday, which is under production. Shah Rukh would be the new Indian star who would join the MCU in case the rumors hold water. Earlier, Bollywood actors like Farhan Akhtar, Harish Patel, and Mohan Kapoor were announced to be part of this global franchise.
The tweet mentioned: “News/Rumor: Shah Rukh Khan (Shahrukh) is reportedly in early talks with Marvel Studios for a role in an upcoming film (not Avengers: Doomsday).” This update follows a few months after Captain America: Brave New World star Anthony Mackie named Shah Rukh Khan as his top choice to join the Avengers. Mackie had described Shah Rukh as “really good” and expressed his desire to fly to an island near India.
After the events of Eternals, an upcoming Marvel film is speculated to potentially explore the rise of an Indian superhero or villain in the Indian Ocean. However, there has been no official confirmation yet.
Shah Rukh Khan’s influence in the Marvel fandom is not new. Although he has not appeared as a character in the MCU, he is a favorite hero of Kamala Khan, the character in Ms. Marvel. His song from the film Swadesh was also featured in Dead pool 2.
Actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Doctor Strange, has already been in awe of Shah Rukh’s ability and stature, supporting the idea of him being a part of the MCU. Marvel Studios and Shah Rukh Khan have not made an official announcement as yet, but fans are looking forward to an official confirmation.
