KATHMANDU: Right now, films like Pitambar, Anjila, and Basant are showing in theaters. Pitambar was released on Chaitra 29, while the other two films came out earlier. However, no new Nepali films have been released since the start of Baishakh. But, new films will start coming out from next Friday!
On Baishakh 12 : Bhutan and Khel
Bhutan is directed by Vinod Poudel, who is well-known for his previous hit film ‘Bulbul’. ‘Bhutan’ tells the story of Bhutanese refugees who move to America. The film stars Harivansh Acharya, with Daya Hang Rai, Aditi Paikhurel, Richa Ghimire, Pooja Chand, and others in supporting roles. The producers are Aviral Thapa, Rajendra Thakurthi, Amitabh Joshi, Sushank Mainali, Vinod Poudel, and Keertana Banskota.
‘Khel’ is directed by Anurag Pradhan and Astha Shrestha. It features actors like Suraksha Pant, Monica Thapa, Hena Nagarakoti, and others. It is a mix of mythology, friendship, tradition, spirituality, thriller, and suspense. Its producers are Louis Raj Maharjan and Ashish Raj Maharjan.
On Baishakh 19: Jhilko
Jhilko is about the impact of digital addiction on children and society and families. The movie, directed by Yadav Bhattrai, stars Ayushi Dhakal, Sunil Pokharel, Barsha Shivakoti, and others. Arun Dev Joshi and Dev Brat have penned the screenplay. Sushila Acharya, Ramgopal Thapa, and Kiran Kumar Acharya are the producers.
On Baishakh 26, Unko Sweater and Jaar
Unko Sweater is directed by Naveen Chauhan. It is the first feature film from Artmandu Pvt. Ltd. The film is a romantic story starring Bipin Karki and Miruna Magar, with other actors like Wilson Bikram Rai and Alex Paras in supporting roles.
Jaar is based on the historical tale by writer Indra Bahadur Rai and directed by Phurba Tshering Lama. It features Saugat Malla, Anup Vikram Shahi, and Indian actress Geetanjali Thapa. The film is produced by Hope Reels, LA Seven Stars, Baral Studio, and Kiva Productions.
