KATHMANDU: Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film Ramayana is shaping up to be one of the most awaited cinematic spectacles in Indian cinema. Ever since producer Namit Malhotra assembled a stellar cast that includes Ranbir Kapoor, Sunny Deol, and Sai Pallavi, the buzz around the film has been non-stop. Now, a thrilling piece of news has surfaced that’s sure to take the hype all the way up.

Pan-India superstar Yash, who made it big with KGF and KGF 2, is set to become the part of the cast of Ramayana as the powerful villain — Ravana. But that’s not all. He’s also stepping in as a co-producer alongside Malhotra, investing not just his talent but also his vision into this mythological epic.

According to sources close to the production, Yash will begin shooting this very week. His scenes are scheduled to be filmed in Mumbai, where he’ll step into the shoes of Ravana for the first time.

A source revealed, “After wrapping up the major shooting schedule of Toxic, Yash is preparing to move to Mumbai to begin work on Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. But before stepping onto the set, he plans to visit the sacred Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain. This spiritual ritual is something he follows before starting any new project. It’s a testament to the grounded, spiritual side of the Rocking Star.”

The film is being designed as a technically ambitious project, aiming for a scale never seen before in Indian cinema. According to insiders, the first schedule will focus on some captivating sequences with Yash, making his entry as Ravana both grand and unforgettable.

“He’ll shoot for about a month starting at the end of April,” the source added. “After completing his scenes for this schedule, he’ll return to finish work on Toxic.”

The producers have confirmed that Ramayana is being crafted as a two-part cinematic saga. The first half is to be released in Tihar 2026, and the second half in Tihar 2027 — a festive release plan that matches the grandeur of the story.

In this mythological journey:
• Ranbir Kapoor will enact Lord Ram
• Yash will enact the ten-headed demon king Ravana
• Sunny Deol will enact Hanuman, with his signature intensity in the divine warrior’s role

Following the thunderous success of KGF and KGF 2, Yash is now set to dominate 2026 with a double blockbuster release. His action film Toxic will probably hit the screens in March 2026, while mythological epic Ramayana will probably hit the screens in October 2026.

With such blockbuster heritage, an epic canvas, and an emotionally charged story based on Indian mythology, Ramayana is not just a film — it’s on the cusp of being a generation-defining film experience.
