An Indian court has sentenced Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to 2 years in prison.

A court in Surat sentenced Gandhi to 2 years in prison in a 4-year-old criminal defamation case.

The court has also given Gandhi a month’s time to appeal against this sentence in the higher court.

In 2019, there was a case in court regarding Gandhi’s comments on the Modi surname.
