KATHMANDU: Health experts have raised serious concerns over the rising prevalence of high blood pressure, also known as hypertension, which is increasingly threatening public health worldwide.

According to recent studies, the number of people affected by this condition is growing rapidly, leading to a surge in related illnesses such as heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, and other chronic health problems.

Medical professionals emphasize that high blood pressure often shows no obvious symptoms, earning it the nickname “the silent killer.” Without proper diagnosis and management, hypertension can cause severe damage to vital organs over time.

Experts urge the public to adopt healthier habits such as maintaining a balanced diet low in salt, engaging in regular physical activity, avoiding tobacco use, and managing stress effectively. Regular health check-ups are also recommended to monitor blood pressure levels and take timely action.

With the increasing burden of hypertension on healthcare systems, public health officials are calling for enhanced awareness campaigns and better access to screening and treatment services to curb this growing epidemic.
