JUMLA: A tripartite memorandum of understanding has been signed between Karnali Academy of Health Sciences located in Jumla, the Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital, and Interplast Nepal for quality treatment of burn patients and enhancement of healthcare professionals’ skills.
According to the MoU, patients recommended by KAHS will receive free treatment at the Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital. The KAHS’s doctors and health workers will be provided with both theoretical and practical training as well.
Dr Dabal Bahadur Dhami, KAHS Officiating Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the institution, expressed confidence that programmes such as telemedicine, surgeon exchanges, and mobile training would provide easy access to burn treatment for residents of the remote areas of Karnali.
Interplast Nepal has expressed its commitment to further strengthen this partnership through technical and financial supports. The officiating vice-chancellor Dhami said KAHS has the goal of making services effective, particularly targeting marginalized and impoverished communities.
The agreement has ensured an opportunity for joint cooperation in research and development, prioritizing the sharing of data and research projects related to burn treatment management.
The signing ceremony for the memorandum of understanding was attended by Dr Santosh Bikram Bhandari, Medical Director of Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital, Chief Executive Officer Dipendra Singh Saud, Officiating Vice Chancellor Dr Dhami, Director Dr Pujan Kumar Rokaya, Vice President of Interplast Dr. Khakindra Bahadur Bhandari, and Head of the Department of Surgery Dr Nirmal Thapa.
