ISRAEL: Tensions between Iran and Israel have escalated as Iran launched missile attacks across Israel on Sunday, targeting major cities including Haifa and Tel Aviv. According to medics and media outlets, at least eight people have been killed in the Israeli cities, with dozens more reportedly injured.

The Iranian strikes came in retaliation after Israeli forces bombed multiple civilian and energy infrastructure sites across Iran, including the Shahran oil facility in Tehran, which caught fire. The Israeli military claimed its strikes targeted facilities “related to the Iranian regime’s nuclear weapons project.”

Iranian state media reported a significantly higher death toll from Israeli airstrikes, saying that at least 80 people, including 20 children, have been killed and more than 800 wounded over the past 48 hours. Residential neighborhoods and civilian installations were among the hardest hit, according to Iranian officials.

Amid the rising violence, diplomatic fallout has begun to unfold. Iran has officially canceled the sixth round of nuclear negotiations with the United States. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that “there is no justification for continuing negotiations” while Israeli strikes continue unabated.

U.S. President Donald Trump issued a statement saying that he and Russian President Vladimir Putin are in agreement that the ongoing hostilities between Israel and Iran must be brought to an end. No joint action or peace initiative has yet been proposed.

With both nations trading deadly blows and diplomacy breaking down, fears of a broader regional war are intensifying. The United Nations and multiple international powers have called for restraint, but the situation remains highly volatile.
