Indian MEA condoles death of Nepali student at KIIT

KATHMANDU: The Government of India has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Nepali student Prisa Shah, who was studying at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha.

In a press release issued on Friday, the Ministry of External Affairs extended its condolences to Shah’s family and said that it has been in continuous contact with the Odisha state authorities since the moment it learned about the incident.

The statement added that the state government has provided full assistance to the bereaved family and that a detailed police investigation is currently underway.

“The Ministry has remained in close touch with the Odisha government ever since this unfortunate news was received,” the statement read. “Odisha authorities have extended all necessary support to the family of the deceased student, and the local police are conducting a thorough investigation.”

The Indian government also emphasized its commitment to the welfare and safety of all international students studying in the country.

“The safety, security, and well-being of international students in India remain a top priority for us,” the release stated, noting that India is coordinating closely with the Nepali authorities, Odisha state government, and KIIT administration regarding the matter.
