KATHMANDU: The teachers’ street protest, which had been ongoing for nearly a month, has come to an end today after a nine-point agreement was reached with the government.

The decision to end the protest followed successful negotiations between representatives of the teachers and Education Minister Raghuji Pant on Monday. The agreement was subsequently approved by the Council of Ministers.

Minister Pant announced that with the suspension of all protest activities, student enrollment will begin without delay, and schools—closed for almost a month—will resume normal operations.

He added that the government’s commitment to addressing the teachers’ key concerns led to the complete withdrawal of their protest programs.
