MYAGDI: Sunchhahara, located in Raghuganga Rural Municipality-7 of Myagdi, is in desperate need of infrastructure development and exposure.

Despite its abundant potential, the area remains largely neglected due to a lack of basic infrastructure and publicity.

The absence of a well-organized trekking route and a suspension bridge has hindered tourists from reaching this scenic spot.

Lalit Garbuja, a resident of Chimkhola, explained that Sunchhahara’s unique attractions are mostly known only at the local level due to insufficient promotion.

“Even though Sunchhahara, located at the base camp area of Dhaulagiri Himal, has significant religious and tourism potential, it remains neglected,” he said.

“There is a clear need for infrastructure development and better promotion.”

Last week, Garbuja, who works in the Indian Army, led a team of officials from the Mandali Youth Club, tourism entrepreneurs, and media personnel to Sunchhahara, which sits at an altitude of 3,950 meters above sea level.

According to local legend, an ancient musician went to meditate at a waterfall and was granted a wish by God.

The musician requested a gold bar, and God allowed him to take as much gold as he could from a cave behind the waterfall.

However, when the musician tried to take more, a flood washed the gold away, and the area later became known as Sunchhahara.
