KATHMANDU: Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut is scheduled to leave for a 10-day visit to the UK today.

He will be accompanied by Supreme Court Justice Hari Prasad Phuyal, High Court Justices Ritendra Thapa and Hemanta Rawal, along with Supreme Court Registrar Bimal Poudel.

Originally, Chief Justice Raut was supposed to begin his foreign visit on April 24, with plans to first visit Turkey and then the UK. However, the trip to Turkey was canceled unexpectedly.

Although it was reported that the cancellation was due to the earthquake in Turkey, the Supreme Court has not issued any official confirmation.

This time, Raut’s team will only transit through Istanbul before heading directly to London. A Supreme Court official confirmed that no formal events are planned in Istanbul.

The team, led by Raut, is expected to return to Nepal on May 6.
