PARSA: Road accidents in Parsa district have claimed the lives of 34 individuals in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, as reported by the District Police Office.
In light of the increasing death toll, the District Traffic Police Office has been holding weekly traffic awareness events to promote safer driving and curb accidents.
Lokraj Bhatta, Chief of the District Traffic Police Office, mentioned that although last fiscal year saw 51 road fatalities, the current figures have decreased, partly due to these ongoing educational initiatives.
To further prevent accidents, awareness programs have been continued at key traffic points in Birgunj. One such event took place on Wednesday evening at Ghantaghar Chowk, co-hosted by the District Traffic Police Office and Ward Police Office, Birta.
The event included a one-hour training session aimed at drivers and traffic violators. During the session, Chief Bhatta urged both motorists and passengers to comply with traffic laws.
Suraj Sarraf, Chairman of the Samriddhi Nepal Foundation, highlighted his organization’s active role in promoting road safety in Birgunj. Program coordinator Dilip Raj Karki stressed the urgency of following traffic rules, pointing out that road accident deaths now exceed those from many diseases.
