Authorities urge caution for residents near Bhotekoshi and Sunkoshi rivers amid rainfall warning

SINDHUPALCHOK: People residing near the Bhotekoshi and Sunkoshi rivers have been urged to remain alert due to possible risks from heavy rainfall.

The District Administration Office (DAO) of Sindhupalchok, has issued a public notice requesting residents living along these rivers to take precautions.

The alert follows information received from Chinese police authorities indicating the possibility of heavy rainfall in the Tibetan region. This rainfall could impact downstream areas in Nepal.

The DAO has identified several localities at risk, including areas along the Bhotekoshi and Sunkoshi rivers in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality, Bahrabise Municipality, Tripurasundari Rural Municipality, Sunkoshi Rural Municipality, Balefi Rural Municipality, and Chautara Sangachokgadhi Municipality.

Meanwhile, Meteorological Forecasting Division reported heavy rainfall in Dadeldhura and Kailali districts of Sudurpaschim Province, with rain continuing in surrounding districts.

As precipitation is ongoing across various parts of all provinces, the Division has advised the public to remain vigilant.
