KATHMANDU: Democracy Day is being celebrated across Nepal today, marking the 75th anniversary of the National Democracy Day.

This day commemorates the pivotal event of 7th Falgun, 2007 BS, when Nepal transitioned to democracy after the end of the 104-year-long autocratic Rana regime.

A special ceremony is being held at Tundikhel in Kathmandu, the capital, to honor the occasion.

Since 2008 BS, the main ceremony committee has hosted an annual event at Sainik Manch.

The government has also announced a three-day celebration from February 19 to 21, with evening illumination events to further mark the day.
