KATHMANDU: Kathmandu District Court has extended the detention of Durga Prasai and 56 others for an additional two days for investigation purposes.
The extension was granted by a bench of Judge Diwakar Bhatta following a request from the police. Durga Prasai was designated as the lead commander of the royalist protest held at Tinkune on Chaitra 15 (March 28).
The demonstration turned violent, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. Protesters vandalized, set fire to, and looted both private and public properties in the area.
Police are preparing to file charges against those involved under accusations of criminal mischief, crimes against the state, and organized crime.
