BUTWAL: Heavy rain on Friday night caused a section of the road near Khursani Khola in the Daunne stretch of Nawalparasi to collapse, disrupting traffic on the East-West Highway.

Around 7 meters of road was damaged near Bardaghat Municipality–4, with the concrete surface also washed away, according to police.

The highway has remained blocked since around 11 p.m. Friday, and light rain on Saturday morning has made repairs difficult.

Vehicles traveling westward are halted in Bardaghat, while those heading east are stopped at Dumkibas.

Authorities are coordinating with the construction company and the road department to restore traffic soon.
