KATHMANDU: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak emphasized the importance of dialogue to resolve the ongoing dispute over the Pathibhara cable car project.
Minister Lekhak said this during a meeting with representatives from the agitating side and other stakeholders at his Ministry.
He stressed that all parties involved should take the matter seriously and work together to resolve differences and continue with development efforts.
The meeting took place after the discussion between the government’s negotiating team and the agitating side’s representatives failed to reach an agreement on Sunday.
The meeting was attended by CPN-UML leader Yogesh Bhattarai, as well as leaders from the indigenous community.
Home Ministry spokesperson Ramchandra Tiwari shared that during the meeting Minister Lekhak reiterated the need for dialogue and consensus to address the issue.
The Minister called for a peaceful approach to finding a solution, while the agitating side called for the formation of a high-level negotiating team.
The initiative to build a cable car to connect to the famous Pathibhaara pilgrimage site in Taplejung has sparked controversy recently.
