KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Judicial Council is underway since early Friday morning to decide on the appointment of High Court judges.

The meeting is being chaired by Chief Justice Prakashman Singh Raut at the Council Secretariat. Currently, 24 posts of High Court judges are vacant.

According to legal provisions, High Court judges can be appointed from judicial officers, government attorneys, legal officers, and practicing lawyers.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Council recommended three justices for the Supreme Court, leaving one seat vacant—reportedly due to political disagreements.
