Judicial Council recommends four Chief Judges for High Courts

KATHMANDU:The Judicial Council has recommended four judges for promotion to chief judge positions at different High Courts and made important transfers as part of a judicial reshuffle.

The decisions were made during a meeting held on Friday morning under the leadership of Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut.

As per the council’s recommendation, Judge Rajan Prasad Bhattarai, currently serving at the temporary bench of the High Court Janakpur in Birgunj, has been proposed for appointment as Chief Judge of the High Court Biratnagar.

Judge Lal Bahadur Kunwar of the High Court Patan has been recommended for elevation within the same court. Judge Hari Prasad Bhandari, who is stationed in Tulsipur but officially posted at the temporary bench of High Court Biratnagar in Okhaldhunga, has been proposed for High Court Surkhet.

Likewise, Judge Rajeshwar Tiwari of the Butwal bench of High Court Tulsipur has been recommended for appointment as Chief Judge of Tulsipur. Alongside these elevations, the Council has also made additional transfers.

Judge Gokarna Dangi, who had been serving on deputation at the Foreign Employment Tribunal, has been transferred to the Birgunj bench of the High Court.

In his place, Judge Dr. Shanta Seddhai Sapkota, currently serving at the Hetauda bench of the Patan High Court, has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Foreign Employment Tribunal.
