GULMI: The Kaligandaki Corridor Road in Gulmi, which has remained blocked since last Friday, is still not operational, causing increasing hardship for local residents.
A dry landslide struck the Gargare section of the Harmichaur–Arbeni road under Kaligandaki Rural Municipality–1 on Friday afternoon, completely obstructing the road for the past three days. As a result, vehicles traveling between the rural municipality’s center, Purtighat, and Butwal have been stranded midway.
Despite deploying three bulldozers at the landslide site, continuous falling debris has made road clearance difficult, said Kaligandaki Rural Municipality Chair Bed Bahadur Thapa.
“Landslides are coming down from far above the road. We’ve dispatched a police team to the affected area to ensure traveler safety and are urging people to use the alternative route via Deurali and Arbenikot,” said District Police Office spokesperson Ganga Bahadur Saru.
Saru added that the road is unlikely to reopen by today due to ongoing landslides. Chair Thapa reiterated that the prolonged road closure has significantly impacted residents.
“People keep asking when the road will reopen, but it has remained completely blocked for three days—we are left without an answer,” he said.
