KATHMANDU: The District Police Range, in Kathmandu refused to register a complaint against Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.

The complaint, filed by Khagendra Sunar, coordinator of the ‘Dalit Campaign for Dalits,’ was rejected by the police on Thursday.

Sunar stated that the police returned the complaint, citing that they could not register a case against the Home Minister.

“We went to the police with the complaint, but they refused to register it, saying they cannot take action against the Home Minister. We will now approach the National Human Rights Commission as a delegation and send the complaint by post,” Sunar said.

Sunar further stated that he would visit the central office of the Nepali Congress in Sanepa on Friday to demand action against Home Minister Lekhak.

Reports have emerged that Lekhak attempted to separate Neha Rauniyar and Satyendra Ram, a couple from Barhathawa in Sarlahi, who had an inter-caste love marriage.

Strong protests have erupted following revelations that atrocities were committed against Dalit youth under his direction.

The campaign continues to demand action against him and has announced plans to revoke his citizenship.
